ADIT ABHYANKAR
Mr. Abhyankar brings more than 12 years
experience in operational, marketing and sales roles
in the software, finance and logistics industries. Prior
to Fog City, Mr. Abhyankar was co-founder and Vice President
of Gadgetworks, a logistics software and mobile technology company which was
acquired by Navis. Mr. Abhyankar was responsible for
marketing, product management and business development,
and led sales to some of the top retail and CPG firms
in the world, including Wal-Mart. Prior to Gadgetworks,
Mr. Abhyankar was an executive at Xigo, a web-native
platform and application service provider, where he
led the development and sales of Xigo's flagship offering
to institutional investors. Xigo raised more than $24mm
in venture funding, backed by top-tier firms such as
New Enterprise Associates. Before Xigo, Mr. Abhyankar
held an executive role at BARRA (acquired by Morgan
Stanley), the leading provider of risk analysis software,
and was head of the data content group which brought
in over $60 million in annual revenue. He graduated
summa cum laude and at the top of his class with an
M.S. in Engineering and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering
and Economics from Tulane University. Mr. Abhyankar
speaks six languages and is on the Board of Advisors
of the US-India Business Council.
RAVI BHASKARAN
Ravi Bhaskaran has over 24 years experience
in general management, business development, and corporate
development. Prior to Fog City, Mr. Bhaskaran led an
investment in Gadgetworks, a logistics software company
which was acquired by Navis. Under Mr. Bhaskaran's direction
the company successfully signed enterprise software
licenses with a number of the top retail and CPG firms
in the world. Prior to Gadgetworks, Mr. Bhaskaran was
the co-founder and CEO of Pyramid Consulting, a business
consulting and systems integration firm. The company
was acquired by Knowledge Universe (a company controlled
by Larry Ellison and Michael Milken) in 1998, and by
the time of its IPO in 1999 the combined entity had
achieved revenues of $155 million and grown to over
1,000 employees. Prior, Mr. Bhaskaran was a management
consultant at Booz Allen & Hamilton, and before
that worked in the transportation and logistics industry
for seven years teaming with clients including Safeway,
Procter & Gamble, IBM, and Apple Computer. Mr. Bhaskaran
has a B.S. from the University of California, Berkeley
and an MBA from the University of Chicago and London
Business School.
ANDREW T. MOSHIER
Mr. Moshier has over 20 years experience
in operational and private business management. He has
a strong financial and analytical focus, along with
deep expertise working in the manufacturing sector.
Prior to Fog City, Mr. Moshier was co-Owner and President
of Talus Corporation, a contract manufacturer in Fremont,
CA which he sold to Sanmina-SCI a $12 billion global
manufacturer (NASD:SANM). Previously, Mr. Moshier was
the Director of Strategic Marketing for a division of
Raychem Corporation. He led an international group to
develop a Strategic Plan, centered around the reorganization
of U.S., German and Asian facilities. Prior to this,
Mr. Moshier was a Consultant with Booz • Allen
& Hamilton. His assignments concentrated on analyzing
the manufacturing operations of client facilities and
their suppliers. Mr. Moshier earned his MBA from the
Harvard Business School and a Bachelor's in Mechanical
Engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering
University).
W. BRUCE COMER
Mr. Comer has over 14 years experience
in business development, finance and operations both
in the United States and throughout Asia. He is currently
an Advisor to Clarity Partners, an $800 million communications
and media fund. He was formerly a Partner and Senior
Vice President, Finance at Platinum Equity, where he
played a key role in raising the firm’s first-time
fund of $700 million and was actively involved in the
management of the firm’s $4 billion revenue portfolio.
From 2000 through 2002, Mr. Comer was the Chief Financial
Officer of Pacific Crossing and Vice President of Corporate
Finance at Asia Global Crossing. He led the company’s
concurrent IPO and high yield offering, then later led
the operational and financial restructuring of Pacific
Crossing. Prior to that, he was a Vice President in
Merrill Lynch’s telecommunications investment
banking group, where he raised over $6 billion for clients.
From 1987 to 1992, Mr. Comer was a management consultant
primarily at Booz Allen & Hamilton. Mr. Comer received
a Bachelor’s degree cum laude from Princeton University;
a Master’s degree with Distinction in International
Relations from Johns Hopkins University; and an MBA
from The Wharton School. Mr. Comer is a member of the
Pacific Council on International Policy.
SENIOR ADVISORS
DR. SAMIR MASTER
Dr. Samir Master is an experienced healthcare
investor and biopharma industry executive. He is currently
the Managing Partner at Fulton Ventures, LLC, a private
equity group focused on building profitable biopharmaceutical
companies by pairing high quality cash flows with high
potential biopharma products. Previously, he was the
Vice-President of Business Development and Head, Biotechnology
& Specialty Pharma at Novartis Pharma in Basel,
Switzerland, and was responsible for M&A up to $5bn,
in-licensing, and out-licensing activities. Trained
in Internal Medicine and Dermatology, Dr. Master spent
six years in venture capital in the San Francisco Bay
Area prior to moving to Switzerland. His Medical Doctorate
is from the Northwestern Medical School, and his MBA
from the Kellogg Management School also at Northwestern
University.
MICHAEL LAVEN
Mr. Laven has extensive experience building,
growing and leading successful technology firms in both
Silicon Valley and Europe. He is currently the CEO of
Iris Financial, a provider of equity and fixed income
security trading systems; he led Iris’ buy-out
by Apax Partners, a London-based private equity fund.
Previously, he worked alongside Insight Capital Partners,
a late-stage venture capital fund, on an investment
in KW International, a London-based supplier of trading
and risk management solutions. He then joined KWI as
COO. Prior to KWI, Mr. Laven was President and CEO of
Cohera, a developer of e-procurement solutions based
in Silicon Valley, which raised $20 million in capital
from major venture funds including Sequoia, Accel, Sippl-McDonald
and Merrill Lynch and was subsequently acquired by PeopleSoft
in 2000. Prior to Cohera, Mr. Laven was CEO of Infinity
Financial Technology, a provider of risk management
and trading software which held its IPO in 1997 and
was acquired by SunGard Data Systems in 1998. He became
the President of SunGard’s Trading and Risk Systems
Division following the acquisition. Mr. Laven has also
held other executive positions in both Europe and the
US; he received his B.A. from Wesleyan University, an
M.A. from the School for International Training, and
a M.Ed. from Harvard University.
AMBASSADOR RAJENDRA
ABHYANKAR
Ambassador Abhyankar was most recently
the Indian Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium
and Luxembourg. In this role, he worked with leaders
in government, business and the media in both Europe
and India to craft Indo-European strategic policy. He
has been a champion of higher levels of commercial and
political engagement with India, particularly in the
information technology area in both Europe and the US.
In more than 30 years in the Indian Diplomatic Services,
Ambassador Abhyankar has built deep relationships and
enjoys wide-access at the highest levels of business
and government across the world. He has spoken on international,
political and economic issues at universities and think-tanks
in India, US and the Middle East. Previously, Ambassador
Abhyankar held the position of Secretary in the Indian
External Affairs Ministry. Prior to that he served as
Consul General of India to San Francisco (1998-2001),
Ambassador of India to the Republic of Turkey (1996-98)
and Azerbaijan, Ambassador of India to Syria (1992-96),
High Commissioner of India to Cyprus (1987-90) and Deputy
High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka (1982-84). He
has also held posts in Geneva, Brussels, Baghdad, and
Rome (1984-87). Ambassador Abhyankar speaks French,
Italian, Greek, Arabic & Turkish in addition to
four Indian languages. He is also on the executive Board
of the Kunzru Centre for Defence Studies and Research,
an independent Indian think-tank based in Pune, India.
Ambassador Abhyankar holds a Master’s degree in
Economics from the University of Delhi.
